What is FORS Bronze accreditation?

The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary accreditation scheme for vehicle operators. To achieve FORS accreditation, operators must first register as FORS members and then undergo an audit. The audit will assess the level of compliance against the FORS Standard and if the outcome is a pass, then FORS accreditation will be awarded.

The FORS Standard is the official document that outlines what operators must have in place to pass the audit. The FORS Standard covers the following four areas relating to your fleet:

  1. Management

  2. Vehicles

  3. Drivers

  4. Operations

Under each of these main sections, the FORS Standard is broken down into subsections which form the basis of the FORS Bronze audit. The auditor will check your evidence and records to ensure you meet the FORS Standard. To maintain FORS accreditation, you must undergo the Bronze audit on an annual basis.

Preparing for the FORS audit involves writing multiple policies, procedures, and risk assessments and then communicating the information to staff. You must also have the required records relating to your vehicles and drivers covering specified periods.
